This amber necklace belonged to my great grandmother and is one of my mother’s favorite pieces of jewelry. It fell apart recently and one of the beads was lost. After trying unsuccessfully to find a replacement bead, I made one from Sculpey. I mixed a few different colors of clay to get a nice warm reddish brown and then finished it with a glossy top coat. I restrung the whole thing on silk thread and bought new metal findings and clasp for it. My mom was very happy to get the necklace back into her accessory repertoire right away.
